Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. - Thomas A. Edison
I've kept a running journal for years. This journal represents my running achievements. Not just the race times or the completed workouts, but rather my perseverance & commitment to a sport that has given me much more than I could have imagined.
Looking through notes, it strikes me how many ups and downs I've had. I can tell from my hand-written entries when I was elated by a performance or down right disappointed. Those times where I put everything into training, only for a race day blip to lead to discouragement. Outweighing this, I see the positive. The days where no pace or time could represent how great I feel. Ready to take on anything.
The one common theme throughout is that I keep coming back for more. What's that saying: Fall down seven times, get up eight. Keeping a journal will always be part of my routine. How do you know where your going if you don't know where you've been?
